These days of the corona virus pandemic have highlighted the pandemic of social injustice, mass redundancies and financial crises. For many of us it might be quite challenging to deal with these difficulties that life is providing and often we worry about the uncertainty of our future and the future of our loved ones.
Very likely we might have the feeling that life is not cooperating with our ideals of how the moment should be!
Let’s be honest with ourselves: How often do we think, that the moment should be different, easier and/or smooth? But what we are experiencing might often be a sense that our ‘Head is on Fire’ with the result that we want to fix the discomfort or turn away from it. It is easy to turn away from life as it appears, when it doesn’t match what we want it to be. In moments like this, unfortunately we forget that the ‘unwanted’ is also aliveness and an expression of life & being human!
You might be surprised to hear this, but the whole enterprise of mindfulness is not just sitting around & smiling to our breath, but instead learning to be fully alive with everything as it is! What opportunities we have to practice this in times like this.
