With the easing of Covid-19 measures, we are pleased to say that our Teacher-led Mindfulness Meditation Retreat is going ahead. Because your welfare is very important to us, we are keeping to the Rule of 6 for this event and you will still have a Single en-suite room!

Please be reassured that all bookings made for this event will be honoured and a forward credit applied if circumstances change due to the virus.

Teacher-led Mindfulness Meditation Retreat


A student is asking the teacher:

“When heat and cold come, how can I avoid them?”

And the teacher answers:
“Go to the place, where there is no heat or cold.”

The student says:
“Where is that place, where there is no heat or cold?”

And the teacher says:
“When it’s cold, shiver. And when it’s hot, sweat.”

How often in our lives do we seek safety or possibilities to feel more comfortable in difficult moments? Especially nowadays with all the uncertainties, fears or even geopolitical tumults each one of us is facing in life…

Often, we want to find a place, where there is no heat or cold.
Where there is no pain, no difficulties.

That is, how most of us feel. We really believe that we can control the way things are. If we only knew the right technique, we could be beyond the place of cold and heat.

We have developed many strategies with the hope of coping better with the full ‘catastrophe’ of life. And sometimes for a little bit of time, these strategies work, but ultimately, we discover that it doesn’t help all the time. That it doesn’t provide a permanent solution.

What would happen, when we allow the moment to be as it is?
When we stop fighting it.
When we stop trying to fix it.
When we stop running away from it.
When we meet our life as it is!

In mindfulness, we are encouraged to bring awareness to what is present.
And by practicing in this way, we create conditions that transformation can happen.

We invite you to join us in stillness and silence to wake up to the beauty of being alive. To encounter the life we have with freshness and wonder.

Each day on this Mindfulness Meditation Retreat will offer a sustained schedule of formal meditation practice (both sitting and walking practice), instructions, individual meetings with the teacher and short inspirational talks on different subjects related to our mindfulness practice, as well as facilitation of a group inquiry process, all within an underlying environment of silence.

The retreat programme also includes a longer lunch & rest period to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Freshwater Bay and its cliffs, which is less than a 15 mins walk from the retreat venue.

No Prerequisites!


The present moment doesn’t distinguish between newcomers and experienced practitioners. Therefore, you are most welcome to join us, if our Mindfulness Meditation Retreat speaks to you and you are curious when you read this page!

This is the only pre-requisite!

Cosy Wolf is a stunning Georgian house, set in 2 acres of beautiful gardens. The property has undergone extensive refurbishment since January 2020, and offers superb facilities, in a tranquil setting 20 minutes walk from Freshwater.

Due to the current Covid-19 regulations, our Mindfulness Meditation Retreat is for single room occupancy only and all meals provided will be served to us. We will be staying at Cosy Wolf on a half-board basis of breakfast and dinner, with Tea’s, Coffee & Snacks in between.

Please arrive on the first day between 4 and 6pm to allow time to get settled into your room before dinner at 6.30pm and orientation in the evening. The retreat ends on the final day at 12.30pm.

Costs:

  • Tuition Fee (does not include accommodation fee):
  • Accommodation charges: Half-board at Cosy Wolf, which includes Breakfast (details) and Dinner, with Tea’s, Coffee & Snacks in between:
      • £ 315 Single ensuite

Enrolment:

If you would like to join, please let us know and we will send you a reservation email with payment details.
In order to be able to confirm your place on the retreat, we do require full Tuition Fee payment either by Bank Transfer or by Debit/Credit Card (a handling charge of 4% will be added).

Once we confirm your place we will email you a confirmation of your booking and ask you to contact Cosy Wolf ([email protected]) directly for your reservation. A 10% deposit is payable 4 weeks before arrival, the B&B will get in touch via Email to request payment. The remaining payment of the accommodation charge is due on the day of arrival. Cosy Wolf does not accept bookings unless they have a copy of the confirmation email, which provides them with evidence that you have been approved for a place.

Traveling to the Retreat

Traveling to the island via Lymington Pier to Yarmouth (IOW), by WightLink car ferry is the most direct way to Freshwater Bay. Taxi time from Yarmouth (IOW) to Freshwater Bay is approximately five minutes.

Centre for Mindful Living Cancellation Policy

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak we have made some temporary changes to our cancellation policy. Be assured that all bookings made, will be honoured and a forward credit applied if circumstances change.

This Residential Event will take place at Cosy Wolf, Isle of Wight.
If the Residential Event has to be cancelled due to (Local) Government Guidance, we will hold your booking while we look to reschedule the event, or we would host the event online.
If you are unable to attend the rescheduled in person or online event, then a forward credit of the full tuition fee, towards any future events we host, will apply.

If your circumstances change and you are unable to attend, then we will offer a forward credit towards a future event with us.

Our liability is limited to providing a forward credit. We recommend participants have adequate insurance to cover any cancelled travel or personal expenses.

Cosy Wolf Cancellation Policy

In light of the Covid 19 Pandemic and the government advice, they have amended their cancellation policy to the following – 100% refund for cancellations up to 7 days before arrival. 50% refund for cancellations between 6 days and 48 hours before arrival. For cancellations less than 48 hours before arrival, the full booking balance will be due.

Additional Information

The above updated cancellation policies replace the cancellation policies stated in the Terms & Conditions for the IC.CML and Cosy Wolf Bed & Breakfast. These updated cancellation policies will be valid as long as Covid-19 measures have to be in place.
